It was not so long ago that I enjoyed a fantastic week of adventures, mini-adventures and other awesome activities. The week began with a visit to Granite Planet Climbing Centre, a wonderful indoor climbing facility that offers over 100 different routes. Tony, the owner of this centre, gave us an introduction session lasting about one hour and a half. The owner of the centre, Tony, took us through the basic techniques. By the end of our session we had mastered belaying and securing ourselves as well as climbing walls.
The bouldering cave and the climbing room at Granite Planet were both fantastic. These low-level rooms allowed you to practice without harnesses. These rooms had a variety of challenges and short routes that you could try. You could go spiderman in the caving room, which had a floor and ceiling with holds.
During this week, we stayed at a large holiday house in Polzeath to celebrate a friend’s birthday. After a stroll on the beach, we spent the day exploring the local pubs. This awesome party style game that I bought was also fun. The game is called Camel Up, and it was hilarious! The game involves placing bets on an Egyptian race of camels. It is very random that anything could happen in the camel race. This makes it a thrilling game, as your camel may seem to be out of contention until the final minute when they surpass everyone else!
It is possible to place a bet based on whether the camel will come in first or last. You can bet on the camel that will finish first or last. By placing the tiles along the track, you can change the direction of the race. This can add to the excitement and strategy. The coins and tokens feel solid and substantial when placed on the board.
The pyramid dice shaker is one of the most interesting features in the game. The clever device is a great way to tie in with the theme. It releases a die each time the top of the pyramid is turned upside-down and the tab is pushed. These little details make the game so great. The game lasts around 30 minutes, which is great for casual games like this. We often played two or three consecutively. It’s also great that there are no complicated rules, so it’s not necessary to teach your friends to play.
We made pancakes in abundance to enjoy during our holiday. Pancake Day is a tradition for me. I like my pancakes with just sugar and lemon.
It was also with friends that I went to my first Roller Disco. It was a little easier than skating but still not easy. As I spent most of the time just trying to stay upright, I had little opportunity to work on my disco dance. My dancing looked more interpretive than disco-style body popping. The whole thing was a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to spend time with your friends. One windy day, we went to Godrevy Beach which is my favorite beach in Cornwall. It was a windy day and the surf wasn’t great. But it was perfect to go for a walk on the coast path, and spot some wildlife.
We were working around Lighthouse Point when a large flock of Gannets flew along the coastline. The gannets gathered high in the air between the lighthouse and us. They all dive-bombed the ocean at once. Every other second, several birds dove into the ocean to try and catch their dinner. The sight was amazing.
The tide was out, and they were not lying on the beach as they are sometimes. They were swimming and floating in the ocean close to the shore. For a long time, we stood there and counted how many of them were out in the water. The fish were not very cooperative, as they kept diving and reappearing in new places. There were 14 of them, I believe.
